Love deserves to be celebrated more than just one day a year. That’s why the Kiewit Luminarium is featuring a new exhibit this month exploring the many facets of love. This is the last weekend to enjoy the Luminarium’s ‘Love: Curiosity + Connections’ program.

The Luminarium is constantly introducing guests to new ideas through different exhibits.

“We go through prototyping and assembly of different things to showcase all the different scientific phenomena,” Justin Alexander, an exhibit technician at the Luminarium, said.

Now, they’re featuring a phenomenon that unites us all.

“Really importantly, what we want to do is connect our community. And so what better way to do it with the topic of love?” Brenton Gomez, a program coordinator at the Luminarium, said.

Each piece explores the many facets of love, whether expressed through words or physical touch.

“This is a chance for guests to actually complete a circuit independently or with their partner, or even with a stranger. So the idea is like when you come in the space, you can make this circuit complete and it makes the sound right,” Gomez said.

The exhibit encourages guests to think beyond romantic love.

One way they do so is through an ‘Affirmation Station,’ which voices statements like, “Healing is not linear. I give myself grace to learn and grow.”

“We thought it was really important to kind of give people that chance to engage themselves. Because I feel like the holiday kind of focuses a lot on that romantic love and not necessarily being inclusive to everyone,” Alexander said.

Organizers hope to help the guests love themselves and others.

“The idea is like, if someone can do that here, then maybe they can take it with them outside of the space and share it with their friends and families as well. And if not more importantly, with a stranger,” Gomez said.
