Omaha’s newest attraction celebrates its Opening Day Saturday.
Despite the rainy weather, hundreds came out to explore the highly anticipated Kiewit Luminarium on the riverfront. The science center’s creators hope it will become a city staple for generations.
It is a truly spectacular sight inside the 82,000-square-foot building featuring more than 120 exhibits right now.
“I like that it has so much cool things about science,” said Grayson, a young Omaha resident.
Cool things like a pebbled runway that tests how quietly you can walk or swinging pendulums that take on a rhythm all their own thanks to gravity’s constancy.
“Even if they don’t necessarily understand the science behind it, they can see really neat things happen,” said Kristina Wake, an Omaha resident.
These learning experiences are exactly what the Luminarium’s creators strived for.
And if expanding imaginations and lifelong curiosity are the goals of science, the new facility might just be the place you can go to enlighten your world.
