What is Kiewit Luminarium?

Kiewit Luminarium is a science museum for people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds to explore the astonishing phenomena that shape our world, our communities, and ourselves. We have more than 100 interactive exhibits and a variety of special programs to ignite curiosity and discovery.

When is the Luminarium open?

We are located at The RiverFront in Downtown Omaha at 345 Riverfront Drive.

How do I get to Kiewit Luminarium?

By personal vehicle, you can access the Luminarium, located at 345 Riverfront Drive, from both Abbott Drive and Dodge/Douglas Street. Free parking is available in the parking lots near the building. All parking lots have multiple accessibility stalls. There is also a loading zone near the entrance of the building for dropping off and picking up guests. 

Metro’s bus Route 19 runs along Riverfront Drive in front of the Luminarium. Multiple other routes have bus stops within walking distance from our building, such as the ORBT line, Council Bluffs Blue and Yellow Routes, Route 4 (Maple Street), Route 94 (West Center Express), and Route 97 (Millard Express). The Luminarium is accessible by several surrounding trails such as the MLK Jr. Pedestrian Bridge (10th/Capitol Street), the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge (Council Bluffs), and Omaha’s RiverFront park system. Free bike parking is available at Lewis & Clark Landing, the park adjacent to the Luminarium. What are the membership benefits?

We know each family is different so we offer a flexible family membership that can include up to three named adults and all household children.

Your family membership provides free daytime admission for 12 months from the date of registration. Plus, any children listed can bring a friend for free every time they visit. Adults can also bring another person for free if they are visiting solo (without the other named adult).

Additional benefits include:

  • 10% discount at Fig. Café located in the building
  • 10% discount at the Luminarium Store
  • Reduced price admission for adults-only Thursday nights

How do I find my digital membership card?

You should have received an email with your digital membership card and membership number. If you would like your digital card resent to you, please contact [email protected] or call 4025023366, extension 930 (English) or extension 927 (Spanish).

Do I need my digital membership card to visit the Luminarium?

You do not need your digital membership card to check in upon arrival. You can provide your name, email address, or phone number, and staff will look up your membership information and check you in.

How many people can I bring with my membership?

Each time you visit, you can bring up to three adults and all household children. Each child may also bring a friend for free.

How long does my membership last?

Your membership lasts for one year from the date of registration.

Can I add someone to my membership?

Yes, if you would like to make changes to your membership, please contact [email protected] or call 4025023366, extension 930 (English) or extension 927 (Spanish).

Are ticket reservations required?

Ticket reservations are not required, but please note that we may be at capacity on busy days and ask you to wait if you do not have a ticket reservation. Reservations for daytime admission are free with your membership.

How do I reserve tickets?

You can reserve tickets online at kiewitluminarium.org/tickets.

If necessary, how do I change my ticket reservation?

If you need to make changes to your ticket reservation, please contact [email protected].

How do I check in at Kiewit Luminarium?

If you have a ticket reservation, staff at the welcome desk will scan the QR code at the bottom of your ticket reservation email or help you look up your reservation. If you do not have a ticket reservation, staff will look up your membership account and welcome you in. 

What if I need special assistance during my visit?

Kiewit Luminarium is committed to providing guests with equal access to its exhibits and programs. Please contact [email protected] or call 4025023366, extension 930 (English) or extension 927 (Spanish) prior to your visit to request accommodations. We ask that you provide us with at least seven days advance notice to prepare accordingly.
