As part of our spring Grow season, this Curiosity Station takes a closer look at mealworms as a source of protein and examine their environmental footprint. Observe mealworm farms and learn more about their current uses around the world. Communities affected by natural disasters can turn to mealworms as an emergency protein source. These bite-sized creatures are also known for their ability to digest plastic waste. If mealworms can help save the world, what other insects can step up to – and onto – the plate?
Are you ready to really explore some new possibilities for feeding the world? We’ll have food-grade mealworms you can taste! (Warning: People allergic to seafood or nuts may also be allergic to insects.)
On Monday the 17th there will be two sessions of this Curiosity Station: 10:30–11:15AM / 2–2:45PM
As part of our seasonal Grow exhibition, Curiosity Stations are rotating pop-up learning experiences that explore different elements of growth and community.
