Millard middle school students learn about light and soundwaves at Kiewit Luminarium

OMAHA, Neb. —Middle school students learned that bending light and sound waves isn’t just for superheroes.
Eighth graders at Millard’s Beadle Middle School explored the Kiewit Luminarium on Thursday.
They discovered sound and light exhibits while collaborating to solve problems.
It also gave them hands-on examples so they could learn by doing.
“Honestly, about this stuff, I didn’t really know too much before. I think this is a big step. I can learn a ton here. Like the sound wave one over there, it really did change a lot about how I learned about them. I thought before way differently. This can really change perspective of how things move and work,” said William Ortega, a Beadle Middle School student.
The Luminarium said school districts have asked about third-, fourth- and eighth-grade field trips. They added there are exhibits fit for plenty of age groups.
