This October, Night Light (21+) takes you through the veil, beyond the known, and into the realms of mystery. In the season that blurs the boundaries between the living and the dead, we’re exploring underworlds, outerworlds, and the limits of human knowledge. Come in costume and be prepared for a mind-expanding evening!

Come prepared for surprises as we embrace scientific and intuitive ways of knowing.  What insights does a death doula gain from witnessing life’s final moments? Is it possible to gather scientific evidence of ghosts? Are we alone in the universe?

Omaha UFO Symposium

Are we alone in the universe? During Night Light, we’re excited to host the annual Omaha UFO Symposium, bringing together local researchers and experiencers for a fun and insightful conversation on one of the biggest mysteries in the universe.

PANELISTS

  • Dr. Jack Kasher
    Dr. Jack Kasher is a professor emeritus of physics and astronomy at the University of Nebraska at Omaha who conducted research with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and NASA, specializing in electromagnetic theory and solar research. He is also a longtime UFO researcher, having served as Nebraska state director for MUFON for 25 years and delivered more than 300 presentations on UFOs and paranormal phenomena.
  • David Pares
    David Pares is a scientist, engineer, educator, and former military meteorologist whose career spans atmospheric science, academia, defense research, and advanced propulsion development. He has led experimental work on Variable Electro Magnetic (VEM) drives and Space Warp propulsion concepts while also serving as an educator, pilot, engineer, and leader of several aerospace-focused organizations. Pares will present on a possible reversed-engineered UFO technology that can take us to other solar systems.
  • Margie Kay
    Margie Kay is a veteran paranormal investigator, private investigator, and business owner who has conducted more than 2,800 UFO, paranormal, and cryptid investigations and serves in leadership roles with MUFON and other organizations. She is also an internationally recognized remote viewer, having assisted law enforcement with more than 70 missing-person, homicide, and theft cases, while regularly speaking and demonstrating her work at conferences and events. 

 

“It’s Your Funeral”

Johnny Carson Center of Emerging Media Arts

In this participatory experience, step inside a casket and embrace the role of the deceased. Those gathered are called to deliver a eulogy, whether sincere or absurd. If words fail, prompts are provided in the form of Mad Libs. Once the eulogies are completed, the participant may rise – changed by the ritual – free to walk the earth again.

 

“The Death Café”

Rest a while in the lounge with tea and conversation, exploring the mysteries and rituals of end of life with local death doulas. Death Cafés are agenda-less, offering open discussions about death, grief, and loss.

  • Speaking of Death
    Circle up with a death doula for an open, welcoming conversation about death and dying. Come share, listen, ask questions, or simply be curious about a topic we all experience.
  • Wind Phone
    Make a call to the unknown. Sit with the Wind Phone and have a one-way conversation with someone you love on the other side. Speak freely, share what’s in your heart, and listen.
  • Notes to the Unknown
    Write a question to the unknown, or a note of love to someone you miss. In a small release ceremony, watch your words gently dissolve into water.

 

Rolling Bluffs Planetarium

Rolling Bluffs Planetarium will be offering a series of shows in their mobile planetarium live from the Luminarium floor! Venture into the stars and explore spaces and topics far from the reach of our earthly grasp.

“Ghost Hunting Technology Unveiled”

Paul Kocsis & Chris Case of the Omaha Paranormal Society

Meet Paul Kocsis, a local ghost hunter and ghost hunting technology developer. You can learn more about the technology that has been developed to investigate voices beyond our perception. Paul will be accompanied by his Omaha Paranormal Society partner Chris Case.

 

“Saving Lives with Lewis and Clark”

National Parks Service – Lewis and Clark National Historical Trail

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about various medical and surgical procedures used at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

 

3rd Annual Costume Contest

That’s right! Come dressed to impress, shock, or astound as we host our annual costume contest. At 8:30PM we’ll have a presentation of contestants, walking from the Lounge to our first floor gallery: Catch Waves. Our team of Luminators will be the judges, with prizes awarded to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

 

Wood Block Printing

Shelby Zivny

Get creative with a wood block printing experience where guests will pick out their favorite “Unknown” design and print it themselves. Go home with your own print and gain some insight into the illustration design and printing process from Shelby, the artist behind the designs!

 

“Community Balloon Art Installation”

Olivia Jarecki – Balloon Artist

Guests are invited to make balloon art with artist Olivia Jarecki. Contribute your creation to an ever-growing community installation, hanging from the ceiling.
