What are the camp hours?

Camp hours are from 9AM until 4PM. We are able to offer before and after care for students on a limited basis. Before care hours are 8-9AM, and after care hours are 4-5:30PM. There is an extra cost to sign up for before and/or after care, and space is limited.

Do you have to be a member to register for a camp?

Camp Luminarium is open to anyone! However, there is a discount and early registration for Kiewit Luminarium members.

What do camps cost?

Member price is $265 and non-member price is $295 per camp. If you would like to begin an annual membership please click here! The cost of before care is $20 for the week, after care is $30 for the week, and it is $50 to sign up for both.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and community supporters, financial assistance is available to help make Camp Luminarium accessible to families who may need support with registration costs. Financial Access may cover part or all of a camper’s registration fee, depending on demonstrated need and available funding. For more information, email us at [email protected].

What are the payment and refund policies?

Payment for camps is made at the time of registration. There are no refunds for cancellation of a camp at this time.

What should campers wear?

Campers should wear whatever makes them comfortable for the weather. We highly recommend tennis shoes or other active footwear, as these are safer on playground equipment, and more comfortable on walks. We highly discourage flip-flops or crocs, as they are not safe on playground equipment, and campers may not be able to fully participate. We do spend time outside, so hats and sunscreen are recommended as needed.

What should campers bring to camp?

All campers must bring their own lunches, including a drink if anything other than water is desired. Refrigeration is not available. Please provide an appropriate snack for the afternoon, as well. Students are welcome to bring their own water bottles, but there are also drinking fountains in the building. We highly discourage bringing toys, electronic games or collectables to camp. We cannot be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

Can my camper bring medications if they are needed?

Any medications that may or must be administered to a camper during camp, including Before Care or After Care, must be clearly communicated during registration.Upon arrival on the first day of camp, guardians should provide the medication in the original packaging/bottle and have the campers name listed on it.  All medications will be kept with the Camps Coordinator, except for Epi-pens and inhalers. Campers must be able to self-administer all medications (with the exception of Epi-pens).

Can my camper bring their phone?

Camp Luminarium is an exciting and absorbing camp, and paying attention is very important for both fun and safety! We do not allow the use of any type of personal electronics during camp hours, including at lunch. This includes phones, video games, smart watches, tablets, etc. If your child is in before or after care, they may use those devices during that time if they like. Headphones are required for any electronics that have sound. We are unable to monitor your child’s device use during these times.

What are the drop-off and pick-up procedures?

Camper Drop-Off & Check-In

Guardians must walk their camper into the museum to drop them off and check in for camp.

Please note the options for parking by viewing the Camp Drop-off & Pick-Up Parking Map.

For both Before Care and regular camp drop-off, guardians may park in the West Parking Lot across the street from the museum or temporarily use the Camp Luminarium Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lane located in front of the facility.

  • Before Care Drop-Off (8am – 9am): If your child is enrolled in Before Care, please do not arrive before 8am. A guardian must walk their child into the museum and complete the check-in process each morning.
  • Regular Drop-Off (8:45am – 9am): If your child is not enrolled in Before Care, please do not arrive before 8:45am. A guardian must accompany their child inside the museum and complete the check-in process each day.

Camper Pick-Up & Check-Out

For the safety of all campers, anyone picking up a camper must be listed on the authorized pick-up list. We cannot release campers to individuals who are not authorized. A late fee of $15 per 5-minute increment may be assessed for campers picked up after their designated pick-up time.

  • Regular Pick-Up (4pm – 4:15pm): If your child is not enrolled in After Care, they must be picked up between 4pm and 4:15pm. Guardians should park in the West Parking Lot across the street from the museum or temporarily use the Camp Luminarium Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lane and walk inside to check out their camper. Please note that the Camp Luminarium Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lane is limited to 10-minute parking. All campers must be picked up by 4:15pm unless they are enrolled in After Care.
  • After Care Pick-Up (4pm – 5:30pm): If your child is enrolled in After Care, they may be picked up anytime between 4pm – 5:30pm. From roughly 4:15pm to 5pm campers will typically be at the Discovery Playground (weather permitting), which is located just south of the Luminarium. Guardians may go directly to the playground entrance and check out their camper with the Assistant Camps Coordinator. From roughly 5pm to 5:30pm, campers will be in the museum. Guardians should come inside to check out their camper.
