Night Light: Science of Fear

Join us for a very special Halloween edition of Night Light on October 31st.

We will close out the Science of Fear in the most festive of ways, during an evening loaded with activities and experiments meant to guide you along the crossroads of fear and fun.

We welcome back our friends from Mercury Lounge for a little “Adult Trick or Treat”, where visitors can dive into the science of cocktails and learn about special libations made in honor of some of our most beloved exhibits.

Moonlight Oracle returns to the Luminarium, as Tasha Wildering will guide the willing along the path of a Tarot reading.

Our Luminator Stations will feature some tasty dissections including mushrooms and cacao. You can also build your own sugar skull as part of our Cardboard Planet activity inside the Maker Space.

Of course the evening would not be complete without a Luminarium costume contest. Our Luminators will be watching closely before announcing our favorites at 9 p.m.

Explore the dynamics of sound and shake your bones in our first ever Silent Disco. Guests can grab some headphones and dive into the sounds of DJ Dorner and Riz the DJ.

Our lounge area will feature lovely sounds from the Atlantic Piano Duo as a variety of classic films play on the big screen.

This special Night Light is  presented as part of the Science of Fear, a month-long program that invites guests to explore the many cultural and personal dynamics of fear. Through several interactive experiences, the Luminarium presents a multi-sensory investigation into fear as a phenomenon. From the physiological experience of fear to its many manifestations in human culture, there’s much to explore!
