Traveling Exhibit: Finding Titanic
Finding Titanic reveals the remarkable story of how Dr. Robert Ballard discovered the wreck of the RMS Titanic—a discovery that began as a top secret Cold War mission. Under the guise of searching for the Titanic, Ballard was tasked with documenting two sunken nuclear submarines, the USS Thresher and USS Scorpion. The exhibition explores how this covert mission became the key to one of the greatest oceanographic discoveries of all time. Through themes of science, perseverance, and problem-solving, educators can help students uncover how Ballard overcame immense challenges and how his work reshaped our understanding of the deep ocean.
