Budding Botanists: Tree Bud Dissection

Spring starts small! Join Keep Omaha Beautiful for a hands-on investigation of tree buds and the exciting changes happening before leaves and flowers appear. Dissect buds to uncover the tiny leaves and flowers hidden inside, ready to burst when the weather warms.

 

  • Compare buds from different trees found around Omaha
  • Discover how buds protect trees through winter
  • Learn about phenology, the study of seasonal changes in plants

 

You’ll explore how tree biology connects to the urban ecosystem and discover easy ways to continue observing and studying phenology in your own neighborhood.
