6th – 7th Grade Camps

For the summer of 2026, we’ve designed three unique Camp Luminarium experiences for students entering grades 6-7. Each camp is five-days long and is offered in two sessions – once in June and once in July. Campers are welcome to register for multiple camps, exploring a wide diversity of scientific experiences!

Bio Engineers

June 8-12 / July 6-10

In this camp, get hands-on with biomimicry and geomimicry – an approach to engineering that takes inspiration from nature. Plants, animals, mushrooms and geologic processes create countless amazing designs that have inspired human creativity. We’ll also look at the processes that break down those same features with a special session on decomposition and decay – and even run a slime mold through a maze! Embrace your inner-engineer and create your own innovations inspired by the wonder of nature.

Member Registration Opens March 11

Make a Splash

June 15-19 / July 13-17

Water is amazing! It erodes mountains, cools hot days, and is the source for all life on Earth. Take a deep dive into the ways water moves, shapes, destroys and creates. We’ll look at our own local water features in the playground, the Missouri River, and even on a trek up to the Heartland of America Park and the Gene Leahy Mall. Learn about the many qualities of water through the lens of physics, chemistry and art… and maybe even water balloons!

Member Registration Opens March 11

Mad Science Lab

June 22-26 / July 20-24

Become a mad scientist in this exciting laboratory-based camp! Use chemistry to make slime and explosions, do some extreme experiments with air pressure and magnets, try your hand at taming electricity and dabble in genetic engineering. We’ll even throw in a few math tricks to amaze your family and friends.

Member Registration Opens March 11
