Join us at the Luminarium and venues throughout Omaha this May for groundbreaking performances, cutting-edge science and technology, tailored preferred interests, and thought-provoking films and discussions.
Common Senses Festival will help us discover what makes humans unique and what we all have in common by amplifying voices, breaking barriers, and redefining what accessibility means.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication Retrospective
May 10 – June 1
In partnership with Common Senses Festival and Munroe-Meyer Institute, and in collaboration with TalkToMe Technologies, the Luminarium will host a hands-on exploration of the history and importance of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Used by over 2 million people, AAC can either compensate or supplement speech through both high-tech and low-tech modalities. From early 1920s letter boards, to the first portable device (the Auto Monitoring Communication Board), to today’s more common high-tech devices, AAC capabilities have evolved dramatically.
Come learn about AAC’s past and try out modern AAC methods and devices!
