During our month-long exploration of Love, we’re hosting an adults-only Night Light that explores the myriad ways intimate connections are made in nature. You know, the birds and the bees . . . and the frogs and the snakes and the lizards.
For the humans among us, we’re also curating a cozy romantic evening, complete with our cozy “Lover’s Lounge,” music from Parfait, and freshly shucked oysters & sparkling wine from Fig. cafe. A night of curiosity and connection, not to be missed!
Find the Queen (7PM-10PM)
This Valentine’s season, discover the wild world of bee romance with the UNL Bee Lab. Join us for an intimate look into the extraordinary lengths bees go to find love — from intricate courtship dances to complex mating strategies. Peek into our live observation hive and test your skills. Can you spot the elusive queen among her bustling colony? Explore the Bee Lab’s fascinating collections, cutting-edge equipment, and groundbreaking research that unveils the secret love lives of these incredible pollinators.
The Science of Bird Love: Songs, Dances, & More (7–10PM)
Join Jason “The Birdnerd” St. Sauver from the Audubon Society to explore the surprising science of bird song, dance, and mating. Test your skills against the avian world’s loudest singers, grooviest dancers, and smoothest “swingers.”
Chocolate Screen Printing (7-9PM)
Local artists and printmakers Dan Crane and Parris Gaines are collaborating on a special Love design that will be screen printed live on sight. The best part . . . the ink is edible! Inspired by renowned Omaha-born artist Ed Ruscha and his infamous Chocolate Room, these prints will be made with chocolate syrup! Come grab your very own deliciously tempting print!
Love finds a Way: An Anthropomorphically Educational Adventure (8PM)
Evolution has developed a surprising number of ways to overcome physical and environmental challenges when it comes to reproduction. Jessi Krebs (Curator of Reptiles and Amphibians, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium) will explore some of the most unusual copulatory mechanisms nature has devised.
Lover’s Lounge (7–10PM)
The lounge will be converted to Lover’s Lounge. Sensual and comfy vibes in the lounge. Decor in thematics of the holiday and in proximity to the Oyster Bar provided by Fig.
Music by Parfait (7–9pm)
Parfait is a genre-bending trio that combines all the favorite styles and flavors of music that you know and love, with modern twists on exploring new music in Funk, Soul, Mo-Town, Blues, Pop & Video Game Music across the ages. Born on the corner of 11th & Howard in the Old Market Omaha (2021), this multi-instrumentalist trio of Jimmy Cuadros, Nidhal Keddah, and JordanTheNinja fixate on spread good vibrations, spontaneous dance parties, and a fun way to explore and enjoy music from all ages!
