2nd – 3rd Grade Camps
For the summer of 2026, we’ve designed three unique Camp Luminarium experiences for students entering grades 2-3. Each camp is five-days long and is offered in two sessions – once in June and once in July. Campers are welcome to register for multiple camps, exploring a wide diversity of scientific experiences!

Busy Builders
June 8-12 / July 6-10
An exploration of the ways nature sculpts the landscape and how people engineer their cities. Campers will learn about volcanoes, rivers, beavers, and bees, and more! Learn about playground engineering and try to escape our Luminarium-themed “escape room”! Design vehicles and an entire city inspired by the engineering lessons the Earth gives us.

The Patterns of Nature
June 15-19 / July 13-17
Nature creates complex and beautiful patterns! In this camp we will be exploring patterns in snow and light, fossils and minerals, flowers and leaves, feathers and stripes, shells, mudcracks, and stormclouds. Campers will explore the mathematical patterns of Fibonacci and fractals, and explore ways in which nature displays these to us – and ways we can express them in our own wonderful artwork.

Bugs and Bones
June 22-26 / July 20-24
Discover a hidden world beneath our feet. In this camp we will take a close look at what makes up soil, the minerals that make up rocks, how bugs and mushrooms do their jobs, and even the processes that form fossils! We will go on a great nature walk to explore the ground around us, and even have a few “buggy” visitors to our classroom.
